In Praise of a Dumpster

For the past weeks (and months) various dumpsters have been located in the yard at JJ House. Delivering, emptying, and retrieving those large containers is an expensive proposition. Except Homestead Community didn’t pay a dime. That is because one company provided garbage removal services during the entire process. They did more than that, but it reminds us of all the acts of kindness that make a project like this possible.

Thank you to Roger Gruener, General Manager, and the entire team at University Place Refuse and Recycling for graciously providing free services. What a great group of humans and a great organization. Thank you for everything. We’re counting down the days ’til JJ House is filled not only with love, but with young women who are getting a brand new start.
