A new year can bring uncertainty and fear, but it can also trigger expectancy and hope for positive change. In the case of Homestead Community, January 1st marks the start of the final countdown to a historic event and the manifestation of years of faith, hard work, and perseverance.
January 25th is the Grand Opening of Homestead Community’s JJ House in Tacoma, Washington. There will be a ribbon cutting, tours, and vision casting as community leaders, volunteers, and HC Team members come together from 6PM – 9PM. Ribbon cutting is at 6:30 and a silent auction runs throughout the night.
The Grand Opening is only a week before 5 young people move into the home. ATG Stores‘ crew, who furnished the home, Lowe’s Home Improvement, who provided supplies and workers, and so many others have been working around the clock to modernize and furnish this home (built in 1910).
JJ House, named after benefactors and friends, Judy and Joe Kraus, will serve as a model home, full of new and vibrant furnishings. We will be able to invite community members to the house even as it is in use, sharing the growing vision of Homestead Community.
We took a step of faith to purchase this house and the renovations were fairly extensive; no surprise for an older home. Please consider making this mission YOUR mission by making a donation of any size. All program expenses are being raised by friends and donors of Homestead Community. It is up to each of us. You can contribute on the Homestead Community website.
Please join us in getting word out of the Grand Opening. Like Homestead Community on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for day-to-day updates of events happening near you.
